Mrs. Frances Edmonds Pitts, 71, of Griffin, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Eternal Hope Hospice.

Frances was born on Aug. 6, 1949, in Upper Derby, Pennsylvania. She is preceded in death by her parents, Philip L. Edmonds and Virginia Hahn Edmonds; sister, Lyn E. Lail. Frances was a member of First Baptist Church of Griffin since Sept. 12, 1971, having been an active volunteer with the toyshop and the kid’s choir.

She worked for the Spalding County Tax office for 23 years, having retired as tag office supervisor. She was an avid golfer, loved to fish, crocheting, cross-stitching, gardening, traveling and card making, and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Fran and her husband Buddy loved to travel all over the country and overseas. Her favorite places being Alaska, Washington, Yellowstone National Park, Niagara Falls and Ireland. She also was the poll manager for Pike County for over 6 years.

She is survived by her husband, Embry Pitts; children and spouses, Elizabeth and David Allen, Truitt and Amy Pitts, Zachary Pitts; grandchildren, Christina E. Stacy, Joshua Pitts, Nicole Pitts, Dustin Allen and Lindsey Allen; great-granddaughter, Elli Stacy; brothers, Royal C. Edmonds and Susan of Tampa, Florida, Phil Edmonds and Ann of Ashland, Virginia, Steven Edmonds of Richmond, Virginia; sisters, Vicky Miracky of Ocala, Florida, Ann Bicking of Richmond, Virginia; brother in law, Bill Lail of Siler City, North Carolina.

A visitation will be on Sunday, June 13, 2021, from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. in the Griffin First Baptist Church Chapel. Following the visitation, a memorial service will be conducted in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church with the Rev. Stephen Norris officiating.
