Miss Faye Shockley, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on May 24, 2023.
Miss Shockley was born on April 26, 1936, in Spalding County. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Lucille Shockley; sister, Hazel Van; and three brothers, Nat, Joe and Chet Shockley.
Miss Shockley graduated from Kincaid Grammar School, Griffin High School, and after obtaining a B.A. degree she briefly taught in Garland, Texas, and at Griffin High School.
She lived in California for 37 years, working in the aerospace industry and retired from Hughes Aircraft as senior manufacturing engineer in 1998.
Miss Shockley returned to Griffin in 1999 and became an active member of Southside Baptist Church. While living in California, she was also an active member of Crescent Baptist Church in Anaheim, California.
Survivors include nieces and nephews; god sister, Sui Kay Ku of Texas; and many special friends, the ladies of the WOM Prayer group and members of the Good Samaritan Sunday School at Southside Baptist Church and the Kincaid Gals of the 1949 graduating class.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home.
Her cremated remains will be interred in the family plot at Berea Cemetery in Hampton, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Southside Baptist Church.
