Magistrate Court holds preliminary hearings

The Spalding County Magistrate Court held preliminary hearings Tuesday in the Spalding County Jail Courtroom.

Here are the cases that are on the schedule (defendants, charges, and rulings):

• Markel Taiwon Amey: Two counts of aggravated child molestation (felony), two counts of aggravated sexual battery (F), aggravated sodomy-with force/against person’s will or person younger than 10-years old (F), and two counts of child molestation. Continued until Oct. 20.

• Shamir Johnson: Two counts of Violation of Georgia Street Gang Act-unlawful acts (F) and unlawful for person to acquire/maintain through criminal street gang activity (F). Waived preliminary hearing and was granted a $25,000 consent bond on the following conditions — no alcohol or illegal drugs, no firearms or ammunition, no new crimes, and no contact with gang members.

• Clinton Michael Edwards: Aggravated battery (F). Sent to Superior Court.

• Chinda Ricky Sitthivong: Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act-methamphetamine possession (F), VGCSA-intent to distribute methamphetamine (F), and VGCSA-possession and use of drug-related objects (misdemeanor). Bound over to Superior Court on all courts with $21,000 bond.

• Jordan Sara Louise Thomas: Tampering with evidence (M), VGCSA-possession and use of drug-related objects (M), VGCSA-methamphetamine possession (F), two counts of VGCA-possession, VGCSA-intent to distribute methamphetamine (F), three counts of VGCSA-intent to distribute (F), VGCSA-cocaine possession (F), VGCSA-intent to distribute cocaine (F), and VGCSA-heroin possession (F). Consent bond of $50,000 with the following conditions — not to enter in Spalding County unless for court, drug rehab within 10 days of release, and be subject to random drug testing.

• Early Lee Evans: VGCSA-methamphetamine possession (F), VGCSA-possession and use of drug-related objects (M), and crossing guard lines with marijuana/controlled substances/weapons (F). Bonded out.

• Christopher George Jordan: Tampering with evidence (M), three counts of VGCSA-intent to distribute (F), VGCSA-heroin possession (F), VGCSA-possession and use of drug-related objects (M), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (F), VGCSA-intent to distribute cocaine (F), VGCSA- intent to distribute methamphetamine (F), VGCSA-cocaine possession (F), VGCSA-methamphetamine possession (F), and two counts of VGCA-possession. Waived preliminary hearing and was granted a $75,000 bond with the following conditions — no contact with co-defendants, no alcohol or illegal drugs, no firearms or ammunition, and no new crimes.

• Angel Marie Jett: VGCSA-methamphetamine possession (F) and VGCSA-possession and use of drug-related objects (M). Entered plea and waived preliminary hearing.

• Jacob Goodman: Two counts of battery-family violence (M), second degree criminal damage (F), false imprisonment-confine (F), theft by taking less than $1,500 (M), and calls or otherwise contacts 911 and fails to hang up/disengage connection for purpose of interfering (M). Waived preliminary hearing.

• Kenneth Gregory Whitten: Theft by taking (F), VGCSA-methamphetamine possession (F), VGCSA- intent to distribute methamphetamine (F), possession of firearm during the commission of a felony (F), and VGCSA-possession and use of drug-related objects (M). Continued until further notice.

• Merrick Flakes: VGCSA-sale marijuana (F), reckless conduct (M), criminal trespass-unlawful purpose (M), unlawful for person to commit offense with intent to obtain/earn membership/maintain/increase status (F), Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act-criminal activity prohibited (F), aggravated battery-disfigure (F), first degree burglary (F), 911 obstruction (M), two counts of criminal trespass (F), and theft by taking less than $1,500 (M). Waived preliminary hearing.

• Semaj J. Carr: Seven counts of entering automobile or other motor vehicle with intent to commit theft or felony (F). Waived preliminary hearing.

• Juliana Caroline Patel: Four counts of child molestation (F), four counts of sexual exploitation of a child (F), use or installation of device to film underneath or through an individual’s clothing (F), child molestation (F), and create or possess with intent to distribute/sell visual medium depicting minor in sexually explicit conduct (M). Waived preliminary hearing.

• Dontay William Taylor: First degree burglary (F). Waived preliminary hearing. Bond was reduced from $10,000 to $5,000.

• Willie Wright: Aggravated assault with a weapon (F). District Attorney’s office reduced charge to battery (M) and case was sent to State Court.

• William Clayton Kilgore: Theft by receiving/retaining greater than $1,500 (F), VGCSA-possession and use of drug-related objects (M), and driving with a suspended license (M). Waived preliminary hearing.

• Sirena Lynn Hays: VGCSA-methamphetamine possession (F) and VGCSA-possession and use of drug-related objects (M). Waived preliminary hearing.

• Danielle Stroud Shirah: Tampering with evidence (F) and entering auto (F). Continued until further notice.

• William Dantony White: Entering auto (F) and tampering with evidence (F). Continued until further notice.

• Stephen Wade Huckaby: Aggravated stalking (F). District Attorney’s office reduced charge to misdemeanor stalking and case was sent to State Court.

• James Samuel Martin: Methamphetamine possession (F) and possession of drug-related objects (M). Entered plea and waived preliminary hearing.

• Christopher Melvin Brownlee: Two counts of criminal damage to property (F) and simple assault (M). Waived preliminary hearing and was granted a consent bond of $10,000.

• Dustin Ray Stubbs: Two counts of VGCSA-possession (F). Entered plea and waived preliminary hearing.

• Mark Aaron Martin: Terroristic threats (F). District Attorney’s office dismissed charges.

• Michael Lamar Matthews: VGCSA-methamphetamine possession (F), simple assault (M), and theft by taking less than $1,500 (M). Entered plea and waived preliminary hearing.

• Denzel Holmes Wilson: Battery (M) and aggravated assault-strangulation (F). District Attorney’s office reduced aggravated assault-strangulation charge to misdemeanor battery and case was sent to State Court.

• Arthur Lewis Yarbrough: Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act (F) and obstruction of law enforcement officer (M). Waived preliminary hearing and was granted a $3,500 consent bond (reduced from $6,500).

• Dustin Joel Stevens: Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act (F) and obstruction of law enforcement officer (M). Waived preliminary hearing.

• Johnny Dwayne Flournoy: VGCSA-methamphetamine possession (F) and VGCSA-possession and use of drug-related objects (M). Granted $4,000 consent bond.

• Matthew Harris: Theft-entering auto (F), simple assault (M), loiter/prowl (M), removing or affixing a license plate for the purpose of concealing identity of vehicle (M) and driving with a suspended license (M). Entered plea and waived preliminary hearing.

• Connor Wade Hobbs: Theft by conversion greater than $1,500. District Attorney’s office reduced charged to misdemeanor theft by conversion and case was sent to State Court.

• Timothy Morris Kennedy: Theft by shoplifting greater than $500. Waived preliminary hearing.
