A Griffin woman accused of child molestation waived her preliminary hearing Tuesday.

Patel was charged with the following felonies in August — four counts of child molestation, four counts of sexual exploitation of a child, use or installation of device to film underneath or through an individual’s clothing, and child molestation. She was also charged with create or possess with intent to distribute/sell visual medium depicting minor in sexually explicit conduct (a misdemeanor).

Patel was arrested Aug. 10 on child molestation and aggravated child molestation charges.

According to a Griffin Police Department incident report, Kevin John Burkholder, 38, of Gay, was listed as being involved. Burkholder had been arrested on multiple child molestation charges a week earlier.

On Aug. 4, Burkholder, a former Griffin Fire-Rescue firefighter, was arrested by the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office on the following charges — incest, aggravated child molestation, child molestation, sodomy, four counts of eavesdropping and unlawful surveillance, and two counts of sexual exploitation of a child by manufacturing child pornography. Additional warrants were issued later by the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office and those charges included 12 counts of sexual exploitation of children and eavesdropping and unlawful surveillance.

Burkholder was later fired by the City of Griffin.

Burkholder’s first hearing was Aug. 10 and he was bound over to Meriwether County Superior Court on Aug. 20.

A motion hearing is scheduled for Burkholder on Oct. 27 at 9 a.m., according to Meriwether County Superior Court.
