Two Barnesville residents were killed and another person was injured in an accident Wednesday night in Lamar County.

Barnesville resident Eddie Watts, 68, and Barnesville resident David Watts, 56, were killed in the accident, according to information provided by the Georgia Department of Public Safety. Tamiko Dorsett was transported to Navicent Hospital in Macon with non-life threatening injuries.

At about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Eddie Watts, was traveling east on Georgia Highway 36, while a Toyota Land Cruiser, driven by Dorsett, was traveling west on Georgia Highway 36. The Pontiac failed to maintain its lane, crossed the center line and struck the Land Cruiser head-on, the Department of Public Safety reported.

David Watts was a passenger in the Pontiac.

The Herald-Gazette of Barnesville reported that the accident occurred near Shiloh Baptist Church in the Morgan Dairy Road area.
