Two correctional officers and one offender were injured Monday following an incident at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, a Georgia Department of Corrections official confirmed Wednesday.
The Butts County Fire Department responded to “a report of a traumatic injury” at the prison, according to information released Monday afternoon by the BCFD. The BCFD’s battalion chief, assistant chief and fire chief, along with two ambulances, arrived at the scene.
The two officers sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The GDC did not release the names of the injured, the condition of the offender or the cause of the injuries.
“Specific information related to condition and other health details are not releasable under HIPPA,” Lori Benoit, manager of the GDC Office of Public Affairs, said Wednesday.
The GDC continues to investigate the incident, which is standard GDC procedure, Benoit said.
