Public safety officials continue to investigate two separate wrecks occurring within 12 hours of each other, claiming the lives of two victims.
The first wreck, a single-vehicle accident, was reported around 7:30 p.m. Saturday on Musgrove Road in Spalding County.
According to Spalding County Coroner Mike Pryor, the male driver left the roadway and struck a tree before being ejected from the vehicle.
The driver was identified as Joshua Askew, 37, of Griffin, Pryor said.
A crash on Interstate 75 Southbound in Butts County had traffic at a standstill around 3:30 a.m. Monday, Pryor said.
The stalled traffic then caused a fatal collision when the 40-year-old driver crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer vehicle.
Pryor said the driver was identified as Demetrice Scott, of Jackson. A passenger in Scott’s vehicle was injured and transported to an Atlanta hospital for treatment.
Another accident then occurred on I-75 in Henry County, leaving two victims with critical injuries.
