SPALDING COUNTY — Registration begins Saturday for Spalding County sixth graders interested in going on this year’s trip to Washington, D.C., with the Spalding Junior Deputy program.
Registration will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office, 401 Justice Boulevard in Griffin. Registration will also be held Jan. 22 at the SCSO.
This year’s trip for eligible sixth graders to the nation’s Capitol is scheduled for May 1-6. The trip has been canceled the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The cost of this year’s trip is $650 and includes lodging, transportation, meals and admissions to all events. Payments can be made for the trip, and the SCSO will be providing a list of payment options and information at registration. All payments are due by March 25.
“Your child must be present for one of the above registration dates in order to take a photo for an ID card,” according to the Junior Deputy website.
A $250 deposit is also due at the time of registration.
A letter detailing this year’s trip was sent home with sixth-grade students last week.
Registration forms and more information regarding the trip and eligibility can be found at spaldingjrdeputyprogram.weebly.com.
