A preliminary hearing is scheduled Tuesday for a Griffin woman charged with child molestation and related charges.

According to the Spalding County Magistrate Court’s preliminary hearing calendar, the hearing for Juliana Caroline Patel, 35, of Griffin, is scheduled for Tuesday in the Spalding County Jail Courtroom.

Her attorney is listed as being a public defender (no individual attorney listed).

According to the preliminary hearing calendar, Patel is charged with four counts of child molestation (felony), four counts of sexual exploitation of a child (F), use or installation of device to film underneath or through an individual’s clothing (F), child molestation (F), and create or possess with intent to distribute/sell visual medium depicting minor in sexually explicit conduct (misdemeanor).

Patel, 35, of Griffin, was arrested Aug. 10 on child molestation and aggravated child molestation charges.

According to a Griffin Police Department incident report, Kevin John Burkholder, 38, of Gay, was listed as being involved. Burkholder had been arrested on multiple child molestation charges a week earlier.

On Aug. 4, Burkholder, a former Griffin Fire-Rescue firefighter, was arrested by the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office on the following charges — incest, aggravated child molestation, child molestation, sodomy, four counts of eavesdropping and unlawful surveillance, and two counts of sexual exploitation of a child by manufacturing child pornography. Additional warrants were issued later by the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office and those charges included 12 counts of sexual exploitation of children and eavesdropping and unlawful surveillance.

According to a GPD incident report, Griffin Police Officer Adam Trammel received a call at about 8:59 a.m. on Aug. 10 from Coweta County Judicial Circuit Investigator Jason Newsome in reference to a possible child molestation.

Patel was arrested at about 5:07 p.m., Aug. 10 at her residence in Griffin.
