GRIFFIN — A Spalding County grand jury has indicted a Spalding County teen on numerous charges, including armed robbery and street gang violations.
Martavious Jefferson, 18, of Griffin, was indicted on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and violation of the state’s street gang terrorism and prevention act.
Jefferson and a 15-year-old teen were arrested in August 2021 after Griffin police received a telephone call concerning an armed robbery that had occurred in the area of West College Street Extension, according to the county.
According to the indictment, Jefferson and the teen reportedly pointed a handgun at the person before striking him with it. Jefferson is also accused of taking the person’s cell phone.
The indictment claims Jefferson and the teen are associated with the Rolling 20s Blood Zoo Crew, a criminal street gang.
Griffin police were able to recover the person’s property from the suspects, according to authorities.
Jefferson is scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 1 in Spalding County Superior Court.
