A preliminary hearing was set Tuesday for a woman charged with involuntary manslaughter but the case has been continued.
The hearing for Renita Maxine Thomas, 25, of 615 Northside Drive, Apt. O-2, Griffin, has been continued until Nov. 3. The case was continued because officers were not available, according to Spalding County Chief Magistrate Judge Rita Cavanaugh.
Thomas is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felony involuntary manslaughter, and pointing a gun or pistol at another.
She was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 6 in connection to the fatal shooting of Johnny Lee Whitlock, 40, of 1224 Ellis Road, Griffin.
According to the Griffin Police Department, on Oct. 6 at about 7:03 p.m., Uniform Patrol Division officers responded to a call at Whitlock’s residence.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man who had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.
Whitlock was transported to Wellstar Spalding Regional Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
