GRIFFIN — The Kiwanis Club of Griffin recently awarded its annual scholarships to local seniors.
Receiving scholarships included:
• Peyton Carroll, Whitewater High School: The $2.500 Callum Reid Scholarship. Callum is from Griffin but attends school in Fayette County where his mother teaches;
• Wilson Blalock, Spalding High School: The $2,300 Rip Savage Scholarship; and
• Greyson Smith, Griffin High School: The $2,000 Davis Peeples Scholarship.
Eight students received the $1,000 William A. Gregory Scholarships, where funds were raised from the annual Kiwanis Pancake Day.
These students include:
• Rylie Newman, Spalding High;
• Reece Glass, Spalding High;
• Jordan McCord, Mary Persons High School. McCord is from Griffin but attends school in Monroe County where he mother is a principal;
• Isabella Ayers, Strong Rock Christian School;
• Sara Lokey, Spalding High;
• Matthew Godat, Spalding High;
• Jordan Silas, Griffin High; and
• Mark Dover, Trinity Christian School Griffin.
