Griffin-Spalding County School System Chief Finance Officer Byron Jones has been elected to serve on the board of directors for the Georgia Association of School Business Officials.
Jones will serve a two-year term on the board, which is made up of 14 members from school systems around the state.
“Without the support of GSCS Superintendent Keith Simmons, Board of Education members, my staff and my family this honor would not have been possible. I am grateful for the opportunity to represent a great community and staff,” Jones said.
GASBO comprises 180 school districts throughout Georgia and represents a membership of approximately 500. Jones was nominated for the position at the group’s annual conference in Augusta.
“I look forward to providing resources and information to enhance our school system as well as working to improve processes for the entire state of Georgia,” Jones added.
