Mr. Askew was born in Griffin on May 19, 1950, to the late Alton “Bo” Askew and the late Frances Louise Parker Askew. He was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Ellen Gordy Askew. Mr. Askew was a 1968 graduate of the Griffin High School, 1973 graduate of West Georgia College, a member of Elk’s Lodge, Moose Lodge, businessman and member of the Southside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Della Askew; children, Chad Askew, Kristen Askew and Josh Askew; stepchildren, Scarlett Mathis, Jimmy Norris and Andrew Norris; granddaughter, Windsor Claire Askew; step-grandchildren, Haylee Nicole Norris, Seth Lee Norris, Obi Norris and Brock Mathis; brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Cindy Askew; niece, Chelsea Askew; and nephew, Bo Askew.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at First Assembly of God Church of Griffin. Dr. Randy Valimont and the Rev. Ronald Terry will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Oak Hill Mausoleum. Those desiring may make contributions to Stepping Stones, 141 Futral Road, Griffin, GA 30224, in memory of Mr. Askew.
