Mr. Marvin Manley, 89, of Brooks, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at Renaissance Care and Rehab.

Mr. Manley was born in Flat Shoals, Meriwether County, Ga., on Dec. 18, 1920, to the late Elmer David Manley and the late Carrie Lou Kent Manley. He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances F. Manley, sons, David, Donald and Wayne Manley; sister, Mildred Parson; brothers, Earl Manley, Durwood Manley, Howard Manley, Horace Manley. Mr. Manley was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II.

Mr. Manley is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Bonny Ison of Florida; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Gaynelle Manley of Brooks; grandchildren, Rita Gay, Lynn Barfield, Steve Ison, Kathy Farris of Florida, Karen Butler of Williamson, Karmen Goodson of Griffin, Marty Manley of Brooks, and Becky Henderson of Newnan; 17 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Gertrude Lawrence of Hollonville, Opal Fogarty of Griffin, Jewel Moore of Griffin, Lucille Cleveland of Orchard Hill, Virginia McGinnis of Orchard Hill, Sarah Massey of Griffin, Dorothy Williams of Griffin; brother, Johnny Manley of Griffin; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Marvin Manley will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. The Rev. Bonny Ison will officiate. Interment will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
