Finally, the Griffin Christian Crusaders football team can hit someone else for a change.

The Crusaders will host former region foe Arlington Christian in a preseason scrimmage today at 6 p.m. at Nix Field and the players couldn’t be happier about it.

“It’s nice to have a scrimmage game because it’s getting you ready for the fall,” said running back Anthony Lewis.

Crusaders head coach Kerry Phillips said the teams will start with a 7-on-7 passing drill while the linemen will participate in a “Board Drill” where they’ll line up and try to outmuscle each other.

After a break, each team’s offensive units will run about 12 plays before they put in the younger kids to get them some playing time.

GCHS will scrimmage Harvester at home next Friday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. and scrimmage The Heritage School on Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. in Newnan.
