Two suspects are in custody following an armed robbery of the Triple 8 grocery on the corner of North 9th Street and Tnsley Street, Monday at about 9:15 a.m.

Griffin Police Department (GPD) officers arrested Jazavious Moreland, 18, and Quartez Josey, 18, both from Griffin, hours after they allegedly entered the grocery store with a .32-caliber gun and stole an undisclosed amount of money, according to GPD Investigator Chip Johns.

No one was injured in the course of the robbery, Johns said.

The fast apprehension of the two suspects was due to a quick response by the GPD’s patrol division and its investigations department. Cpl. Chad Moxon and his canine Freddie were able to track down the suspects in the woodline, Johns said, recovering both the weapon and the money.

Moreland and Josey did not resist arrest. They are being held at the Spalding County Jail and charged with armed robbery, pending secondary charges.
