Gators’ Griffin finishes 8th at the state meet

CARROLLTON, Ga. — Griffin Gators swimmer Kylie Griffin, 8, finished 8th overall in the 25-yard breaststroke Friday afternoon at the GRPA State Swim meet.

The Friday events were for the youth swimmers ages 10 and under while Saturday’s events were for swimmers 11 and up. Griffin qualified for the GRPA 25-yard breaststroke finals Friday afternoon by finishing in 5th place Friday morning with a time of 22.39.

The Gators took 23 swimmers to the state swim meet this year, but only four Gators were 10-years-old and younger. The other three Friday swimmers for the Gators included:

n Deborah Hicks, 10, who swam in the 50-yard freestyle Friday morning and placed 15th with a time of 32.68. She also swam in the 100-yard IM and finished 16th with a time of 1:30.00.

n Addison Stahl, 8, who swam in the 25-yard backstroke race and finished 22nd with a time of 24.81.

n Braden Stahl, 10, who swam in the 50-yard freestyle and placed 20th with a time of 34.65.

The Stahls are two of three brothers who swim for the Gators. Their oldest brother Cody, 12, swam in Saturday’s late events at the state swim meet.

The Gators finished in the top 10 at Lithia Springs, won the Macon meet, finished fourth at District and won their Griffin Gators Invitational for the fourth straight season.
