Mr. Ward was born Oct. 25, 1930, in Butts County, son of the late Oliver C. Ward and the late Louise Polk Ward. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Ward retired from United Cotton Goods and was a Wal-Mart greeter.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Goodson Ward of Griffin; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Robin Ward of Cataula, Ga.; stepson and wife, Dennis and Debra Grant of Griffin; brother, Charles Ward of Griffin; sister, Christine Ward, also of Griffin; and grandchildren, Jill Williams, Anna Ward and Matt Ward.
Funeral services for Mr. Jesse Chaffin Ward will be held Saturday, July 24, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Friday, July 23, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
