He was born in Concord to the late Joe and Belle Adkerson. He was a house builder, a good father and grandfather and an excellent provider. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Adkerson, and brothers, Douglas, Clinton, Virgil and Harold Adkerson.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Katherine Kirby Adkerson; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith Adkerson of Griffin and Kirby and Lisa Adkerson of Milner; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Bobby Carson of Honea Path, S.C.; grandchildren, Shanon, Nathan, LeShaun, Adam, Preston and Charles; sisters-in-law, Clair Adkerson of Lawrenceville and Sue Hollingsworth of Taylor, S.C.; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the family from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 3 at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at noon in Moody Memorial Gardens with Pastor Don Bassham officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christian Ministries Hospice, 621 Carver Road, Griffin, GA 30224, in memory of Mr. Adkerson.
