Two Carver Road Middle School students were taken into custody by Spalding County Sheriff’s Office personnel Tuesday afternoon after authorities discovered they were in possession of weapons.

“Two male students were taken into custody at Carver Road Middle School because one had possession of a firearm and the other had possession of a knife,” said Capt. Tony Ranieri, of the SCSO Criminal Investigation Division.

Ranieri was uncertain of the boys’ ages, but did identify them as eighth-graders.

As of late Tuesday afternoon, the boys were still at the SCSO headquarters, because their parents had not yet been located and informed of the situation.

“As soon as we can locate their parents, they (the juveniles) will be taken to the Regional Youth Detention Center,” Ranieri said.
