Mr. Wood was born in Lakeview, Ga., on Dec. 31, 1932, to the late Lawrence Wood and the late Bessie Edwards Wood. Mr. Wood was a retired vice president with the Western Union Co. He was of the Baptist faith, a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean War as a radio operator, and a member of the Ringgold Masonic Lodge, and from the age of 16, had his Ham Radio License, where his call letters were W8EXG.
Mr. Wood is survived by his wife, Joan Wood; daughter, Teresa Rogers of Las Vegas, Cindy Tankersley of Griffin and daughter-in-law Karen Yancey of Griffin; son, F. Mark Laurora of California; son-in-law, Douglas Tankersley of Griffin; grandchildren, Justin Rogers, Douglas Laurora, and Samantha Tankersley; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services for Mr. Paul Wood will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010, in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. The Rev. Jack Landham will officiate. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010. Friends may visit the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
