The Spalding High Jaguars soccer team still keeps rolling along in Region 4-AAA play, as it defeated the Woodland-Stockbridge Wolfpack 2-1 in double overtime on a windy Friday night at home.

Spalding improves to 5-4 overall and 3-0 in the region with its third straight win.

The Jags dented the scoreboard first with a goal by Jake Thaxton with 42 seconds remaining in the first half. Ryan McCain assisted on the goal by Thaxton and the Jags took a 1-0 lead into the half.

Woodland scored the tying goal with 21:31 remaining in the second half on a header. The teams went back and forth the rest of the half, with neither making any headway and regulation ended with the score tied at one.

No one scored in the first overtime period (5:00 total) and with 3:28 remaining in the second overtime, sophomore Harrison Turner scored off an assist from Manny Ruiz to win the game for Spalding.

Spalding’s next match is at home Monday against Jackson-Atlanta at 7:30 p.m., which will also be Senior Night for the boys and girls teams. The girls kickoff at 5:30 p.m.
