Don Wayne Johnson, the suspect in the Jan. 25 robbery of the United Bank branch on West McIntosh Road, was arrested Friday in Griffin by investigators with the Griffin Police Department (GPD) and deputy marshals with the United States Marshal Service (USMS).

Johnson, 28, is also a suspect in recent robberies at Piedmont Community Bank in Forsyth and SunTrust Bank in Brunswick.

A lookout was placed on Johnson Thursday by use of Nixle, a community information service, and the media. Through the detective work of Sgt. Richard Phillips, other Griffin investigators and the resources of the USMS, Johnson was apprehended quickly.

Johnson is in the Spalding County Jail, charged with robbery, police said.

It is possible that Johnson could face federal prosecution.
