My Two Cents 12/25/09

— I would like to thank all the good people who returned my purse and billfold on Friday. God bless you.

— I live in the Dundee No. 1 mill village and if the crime rate in this area isn’t bad enough, on Dec. 16 they turned off all our street lights with a 24-hour notice. They said the reason for this was because Dundee and Springs had paid all these years for the lights, and now that they are no longer in business here, they are not going to pay for the lights. We were told we could sign a petition to see if the county could do anything for us, but in the meantime we are suppose to sit in the dark afraid to go outside after dark.

— Why do you not attach a name to “my two cents”? I don’t read this anymore because I prefer to know whose “two cents” I agree or disagree with, or if it is just good reading.

— Why has Pike County sports disappeared from the sports page?

— I am arrogant, mean-spirited, petty and vindictive. I don’t have any idea about how county government is supposed to work. All of which means I am well-qualified to run for the Spalding County Commission.

— I don’t know who is responsible for timing the traffic lights in Griffin, but he or she must have been thinking about something else.

I also am afraid to walk my dogs when the sun goes down due to the street lights being off. What kind of city will let its citizens safety and security fall to the way side? Mr tom Ridgeway responded to my email and basically pointed fingers at others. How do we get some action?

Why was Mr.William Wilson voted out 3-2? Did he do his job? Did he pass his evaluations? Was he insubordinate? Will we ever know or will the big three keep this a secret. Transparency will work in Spalding county, a good Griffin Daily News reporter could find out why!
