Mr. Hurt was born July 17, 1929, in Thomaston to the late William A. Hurt Sr. and the late Rosa Lee Greene Hurt. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Hurt was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Fowler Hurt, son, Kenneth L. Hurt, and brothers, Elbert and Johnny Hurt.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, William Stephen Hurt, Michael Thomas Hurt, Terrell and Terri Lee Hurt, William A. III and Denese Hurt; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ken Welch; sisters, Margie Vaughn Weldon and Betty Jo Pendley; grandsons, Jesse Burson, Billy Hurt, Mitch and Teresa Hurt, Jeffrey Clay, Damien Hurt, Cody Crawley, Dustin Welch, Brandon Welch and Will Hurt; granddaughters, Stephanie Hurt, Jessie Meza, Jennifer Meza, Chastity Hurt, Joni Hurt and Lindsey Hurt; and great-grandsons, Miles Welch, Logan Hurt and Ethan Spoon.
A memorial service for Mr. William A. Hurt Jr. will be announced at a later date.
