Following this announcement, County Manager Steve Marro presented information on several issues including the possible renaming of Bagwell Road.
Marro advised the commissioners that should the request to rename Bagwell Road to Brooks Farm Road be approved, the decision would cause both residents and businesses located there to incur expenses routinely associated with a change of address, such as the printing of new checks.
His recommendation was to send letters to those who would be affected notifying them of the request and monitoring their responses. BOC members agreed and that step will now be carried out and the issue addressed at a later meeting.
Marro then spoke about his office’s work to secure requests for qualifications regarding the county’s computer services.
“We have servers that won’t talk to each other and computers that won’t talk to the servers,” he said.
In old business, the BOC approved the second reading of the fire district ordinance with two changes reflecting new fees for owners of area chicken houses and the exemption of cemeteries. Board members then voted to hold a future meeting for possible future revisions to the fire district fees.
