Butts County burglary suspects now charged in Spalding

Following the arrests of two suspects following a high-speed chase Oct. 13 that concluded in Butts County, Sheriff Dee Stewart said those individuals have now been charged with multiple counts of burglary In Spalding County.
According to Stewart, an alert deputy sheriff with the Butts County Sheriff’s Office on that date ended a month-long investigation into several burglaries committed in five counties.
Stewart said the Butts County deputy noticed the vehicle in a driveway and proceeded to investigate, knowing it may possibly have been the vehicle being sought in connection with the burglaries.
The deputy was correct, said Stewart, and after a short chase, 19-year-old Anton Armani Sowell and 19-year-old Zenya Concepcion, both of Stockbridge, were taken into custody.
Stewart stated that both suspects have now been charged with five counts of burglary in Spalding County as well as numerous additional counts of burglary and home invasion in the other involved counties. Butts County investigators are still going through property that has been recovered, and once the inventory has been completed, investigators with Spalding County will contact the victims if any of the property recovered came from this burglaries within the SCSO’s jurisdiction.
Stewart also stated that the investigation is ongoing. Additional charges against Sowell and Concepcion as well as others who may have been involved in the alleged crimes.
All five jurisdictions have been working jointly in this investigation, Stewart said, and will continue to do so in the future.
