Alexander Chandler, of Fayetteville, was reported missing by his father Sept. 22, but his body was not discovered until approximately 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, when a man walking in the area first noticed motorcycle wreckage and then his remains.
According to Investigator Clint Harbin, of the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office, Alex Chandler was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon.
“We don’t know when it (the wreck) occurred, but under Georgia law, he was pronounced dead when our investigator arrived at the scene — and that was 3:33 p.m. Sept. 30,” he said.
Harbin said an autopsy was performed Wednesday and the body was released Friday.
“The cause of death is going to be blunt force injury to the head and chest due to a motorcycle accident,” he said. Harbin said that although Alex Chandler was reported missing Sept. 22, investigators found evidence of cell phone and ATM card usage as late as midnight Sept. 24.
Funeral services for Alex Chandler will be held Sunday at Friendship Presbyterian Church in Pike County.
