Mr. Wayne Cato, 58, of Concord, passed away May 12, 2009, at his residence. He was born in Concord to the late Clemons Cato and Ruth Scoggin Cato. He served in the United States Army and owned and operated “Grand Younguns Bait Shop” at his home. Wayne enjoyed fishing and gardening. He played the guitar and sang lead in a number of country bands. He was also a longtime member of Neal Baptist Church in Concord. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Cato.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Cato; children, Melissa Booker of Concord, Melinda Cato of Concord, Sandy (Charles) Burkett of Thomaston, Tim (Brenda) Wood of Zebulon and Ken Wood of Williamson; sister, MaryAnn (Wilbur) Tapley of Concord; brothers, Frankie (Betty Jean) Cato of Thomaston and George Cato of Griffin; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, in the chapel of Moody Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow in the Neal Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
