After one day at the girls Region 4-AAAA track and field championships being held at Alcovy High School in Covington, Ga., the Griffin High Lady Bears are seventh in a nine-team field. Scoring points for the Lady Bears on Thursday were: Tedra Alford with a third-place finish in the triple jump, Brianna McDaniel with a fourth-place finish in the long jump and Shatavia McCune with an eight-place finish in the shot. The second and final day of the meet is today. The finals in the track events begin at noon. Griffin’s Raven Davis qualified for the finals in the 300-meter hurdles, while Pike qualified for the finals in the 110-meter hurdles and the relay team of McCune, Lakeshia Graddick, McDaniel and Raeven Wilkerson qualified for the finals in the 4x100.
