Among the items on the agenda for Tuesday’s Griffin-Spalding County School System (GSCS) Board of Education meeting, will be an informational presentation on FY2010 personnel planning by Director of Human Resources Andy Matthews and Finance Director Jim Smith.

During a Feb. 24 school board meeting, the cost-containment committee made several cost-saving recommendations to board members for the current school year and FY2010.

Several of those recommendations related to personnel and included cutting the salaries of administrative personnel by one or two percent; the elimination of resource officers in the system’s four middle schools; discontinuing the payment of a portion of the employee’s rate for health insurance; and freezing step increases for administrative and classified personnel.

The school board will also make a decision Tuesday night on a waiver for the grading policy for fourth and fifth grades and make recognitions and presentations related to the GSCS Teacher Scholarship Program.

The 6 p.m. meeting will be held at 216 S. Sixth St.
