Two adult females - Tamia Long and Kerry Long - were arrested and an adult male - Ricky Newton - is currently wanted on felony charges after the Griffin Police Department (GPD) Special Investigations Unit (SIU) conducted a search warrant Monday night.

SIU investigator Sgt. Curtis Keys conducted a lengthy narcotics investigation in reference to community complaints of drug activity at 557 Collins St. The investigation led to a search warrant of the residence.

Investigators recovered 16 gross grams of crack cocaine and 21 gross grams of marijuana. All were packaged for distribution. Kerry Long and Tamia Long were present when the warrant was executed. Newton, who was not present during the execution of the warrant, is now wanted by the GPD.

“The apartment is leased to and all the utilities are in the name of Ricky Newton,” said Lt. Mike Richardson of the GPD SIU. “Newton is at large at this time.”

Tamia Long and Kerry Long are in the Spalding County Jail and charged with possession of cocaine; possession of cocaine with intent to distribute; possession of marijuana less than an ounce; possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; possession of cocaine with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a park; and possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a park.

Warrants were issued for Newton for the same charges.

“Ricky Newton is wanted on six felony VGCSA (violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act) warrants at this time,” said GPD spokesman and investigator Bryan Clanton. “We know that he is aware of the warrants and the GPD is designating him as a fugitive at this time.”

Persons with information about Newton’s location should contact Keys at 770-229-6450, extension 474.
