The Spalding High girls basketball team will look to start another winning streak today as it plays in the Peach State Classic Basketball Tournament held at Greater Atlanta Christian School, located in Norcross.
The Lady Jags (9-4) will play their only game in the one-day showcase tournament against Southwest Atlanta Christian. Game time is set for 10:40 a.m.
The Spalding Lady Jags will look to get back in the win column after a disappointing 47-38 home loss to the Woodward Academy Lady War Eagles in a hotly-contested Region 4-AAA contest Tuesday evening.
In that game, Woodward managed to hold 6-foot-2 junior Shakeva Richards and 6-foot-4 sophomore Elem Ibiam to only 12 points combined. The Spalding guards weren’t able to hit shots and that also hurt the Lady Jags.
Kiara Smith was the only Spalding guard who was able to penetrate the Woodward defense, scoring eight of her team-high 12 points in the game’s second half.
The No. 9-ranked Spalding boys team is off this weekend and won’t be in action again until a Jan. 20 game at Rutland High.
