Charles was born in Griffin, Ga., on Sept. 28, 1953, son of the late P.E. McConnell and the late Helen Smith McConnell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy McConnell.
Mr. McConnell was finance manager for Auto Finance Acceptance Corporation. He was previously associated with Griffin Sales and Service.
Survivors include wife, Tommie Allen McConnell of Griffin; sons, Chuck and Allen McConnell of Griffin; brothers, Richard McConnell of Fayetteville and David McConnell of Dallas, Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl and Carolee Presley of Jonesboro; nephew, Tom Presley of Jonesboro; and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Charles E. McConnell will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, in the Warren Haisten Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Charles Robinson will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at the funeral home.
