Ms. Jan Hammock Kemp, 59, of Athens, formerly of Griffin, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008.

Ms. Kemp was born on March 13, 1949, in Spalding County to the late Harry Hammock Sr. and the late Dorothy Hudgins Hammock. Ms. Kemp had been a professor for the University of Georgia.

Survivors include son, Will Kemp of Athens; daughter, Margie Kemp of Athens; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Linda Hammock of Woodstock; niece, Meg Hammock of Woodstock; and uncle, Leon Hudgins of Albertville, Ala.

A private family burial will be held. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Georgia Chapter Alzheimer’s Association, 1925 Century Blvd, N.E., Atlanta, GA 30345, or www.alz.org, in memory of Ms. Kemp.
