The Victim Service Unit of the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office will hold a benefit concert at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7 and feature The Return, an authentic Beatles tribute band. The event will be held at the Event Center, 551 North Expressway, and the cost is $20 in advance and $30 at the door. Special sponsored tables are $500 and reserved tables are $250. Highland United Methodist Church, 2009 Old Atlanta Road, will have a Bazaar and Bake Sale on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Breakfast with all types of biscuits and lunch with hot dogs and chili will be served. Baked goods and quality used items will be sold. A health fair will be conducted. A homemade quilt and other gifts will be given away.

The Spalding Basketball Association will hold open registration for the 2008-2009 youth basketball program for ages 4- 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 1; and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 3 at Fairmont Community Center located at 241 Blanton Ave., Griffin. The registration fee is $55 for ages 4-6 and $75 for ages 7-13. A birth certificate is required and parents should bring the child for uniform sizing. In honor of Veteran’s Day, the Spalding County Senior Center will present the musical group, Party Time Band, during a Nov. 8 senior dinner and dance.
