Griffin High School parents, students and administrators packed Griffin Auditorium Wednesday for the annual Seniors Honors Day.
Before the extensive list of scholarship awards was announced, Principal Janet Ware announced the valedictorian and salutatorian for the class of 2008.
Lauren Hill received top honors as valedictorian, while Kelly Carpenter was named salutatorian.
Hill’s numerous other awards include The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Cup; the Blake Builders Supply and Southern Contractors Association of Griffin Scholarship; and the Principal’s Award. She is also a 2008 STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) student.
Carpenter received the Agnes B. Hunt Trust Scholarship; the Gordon College Board of Regents Scholarship; the President’s Choice Scholarship; the Kiwanianne-General Scholarship; the Robert Watson, D.M.D. Scholarship Award; and the Spalding County Farm Bureau Insurance Scholarship.
Griffin High will hold its baccalaureate service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God, followed by graduation at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 31 at Memorial Stadium.
