The Spalding County Shooting Sports team shot a 4661 at the 2007 Junior Olympics 3 Position Air Rifle Championship this week in Bowling Green, Ky., to take home the Silver Medal.
The Dubois Junior Rifle team out of Pennsylvania shot a 4674 to win the Gold, while the National Training Center Shooting Club in Colorado rounded out the top three with a score Bronze Medal score of 4657.
In all, 23 teams from across the country competed in the two-day event.
Georgia’s team members who took part in the event included April Dunn, Matthew Branyon, Christopher Thrasher and Kyle Phillips.
The coach of the team is Randy Phillips of Stockbridge.
Most of the members on the team are members of the Spalding County 4H Shooting Sports Program which regularly practices at The Ole Mill Range Complex in Griffin.
