Corey Bernell Reeves was arrested by Griffin Police Monday and charged with the murder of Latwan Favors. The 31-year-old Reeves, of Jackson, is being held in the Spalding County Jail, according to a release from the Griffin Police Department.
“Cpl. Tishe Dyer, of the Special Investigation Unit, was able to negotiate Reeves into a peaceful surrender at the Police Department by using several contacts she had within the community,” said GPD Investigator Bryan Clanton.
Sgt. Karen Yancy, of the Griffin Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, said in an affidavit that Reeves caused Favors’ death by shooting him twice in the back with a .45-caliber pistol the night of July 21 in front of a residence at 324 N. Sixth St.
Favors was taken to the emergency room of Spalding Regional Medical Center, where he died due to his injuries.
Corey is my cousin and I think he just lost it cause of what happen earlier that day I don't think he was thinking clearly when he did that because if he was he wouldn't did it. Corey have never been into any trouble before and this is why I think his life should be spared.
