According to Pike County Sheriff Jimmy Thomas, 46-year-old Teresa Burousas was arrested Friday for the murder of her husband, 60-year-old Jimmie Burousas.

After consulting with the District Attorney’s Office, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office on Friday sought an arrest warrant, which was signed by Superior Court Judge Johnnie Caldwell.

Investigators responded to the home of Jimmie and Teresa Burousas at approximately 4:30 p.m. July 1 and found the victim in his vehicle, suffering from two gunshot wounds — one to the head and one to the chest.

Teresa Burousas was found lying near the family residence and was subsequently transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where she was treated and released.

Investigators initially reported they were seeking two suspects in the fatal shooting — a black male and a white male who may have been driving a Pontiac Trans Am.

When asked if investigators are still seeking those suspects, Maj. David Neal, of the PCSO Criminal Investigation Division, said, “There are no other outstanding suspects in this case.”

Upon further questioning as to whether authorities believe Teresa Burousas acted alone, Neal said, “Yes, we do.”

Teresa Burousas has been charged with felony murder, malice murder and aggravated assault. She is being held in the Pike County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
