Man arrested for store shooting

According to a release from the Griffin Police Department, Gerard Walker was arrested Thursday by the U.S. Marshals Service in Atlanta as a result of investigative work by Sgt. Karen Yancy and Cpl. John Hayes and interagency cooperation.

An arrest has been made in the recent shooting at the Triple Eight convenience store on North Ninth Street. According to a release from the Griffin Police Department, Gerard Walker was arrested Thursday by the U.S. Marshals Service in Atlanta as a result of investigative work by Sgt. Karen Yancy and Cpl. John Hayes and interagency cooperation. According to Cpl. Bryan Clanton of the Griffin Police Department, it was not part of Operation Falcon, a nationwide sweep for fugitives led by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Walker was charged with aggravated assault for the shooting of Edward Burr, who units from the Griffin Police Department and Spalding Regional EMS found inside the store with several gunshot wounds at 6 p.m. on July 1.

A helicopter took Burr to Grady Memorial Hospital after the shooting.
