Mrs. Dorothy R. Helton, age 86, of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Griffin, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009, at Hillside Nursing Center in Wake Forest, N.C.

Mrs. Helton was born April 16, 1923, in Zebulon, Ga., the daughter of the late William P. Reeves and the late Eva Roselyn Davis Reeves. She was a member of Bay Leaf Baptist Church in Raleigh. Her husband, Harold W. Helton, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Nancy Bauer Helton, of Raleigh, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Gale and Chuck Hess, of Southport, N.C.; and granddaughter, Caroline Helton.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy R. Helton will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009, in the Warren Haisten Memorial Chapel. Dr. James Willis will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mount Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from noon until the service hour.
