Brewer explained in an email Friday, “We just received a phone call from the commanding officer of the United States Air Force Academy band informing us that they must cancel the concert in Griffin scheduled for March 21st due to the federal sequester. He was most apologetic and stated he would put Griffin at the top of the list for future concerts should the band be allowed to tour once again.”
Brewer said to those who donated money to help bring the band here, “we will be refunding your money shortly.”
He thanked the community “for all of you assistance and for your willingness to help us bring this group here.”
The band features 50 professional level musicians who are active duty Air Force personnel. It was a free concert at Griffin Auditorium.
