LOCAL SPORTS BRIEFS: Keselowski to headline Q&A session

HAMPTON — Fans looking to purchase their Friday, Aug. 30 tickets for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series festivities at Atlanta Motor Speedway have an added incentive, as they can earn stagefront access to a question-and-answer session with defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski.

The Q&A session is a new event added in 2013 to the AdvoCare 500 weekend. Any ticket sold by 5:00 p.m., Monday, Feb. 25 will gain an exclusive pass to be front-and-center for the Q&A session, featuring Keselowski and other NASCAR celebrities.

Friday night’s schedule includes NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying for Sunday’s AdvoCare 500 at 6:40 p.m., the driver question-and-answer session at 8 p.m., followed by the AMS debut of Sprint Car racing with the United Sprint Car Series taking on the quarter-mile “Thunder Ring” on the frontstretch at 9 p.m. The above is in addition to a full day of practice sessions for both the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the USCS.

GOLF TOURNEY:

The 10th Annual Griffin Exchange Club Charity Golf Tournament is 12 noon, Wednesday April 24 at the Morgan Dairy Golf Club.

Sponsorship levels include: Tournament Sponsors ($1000 includes one 4 man team entry with Mulligans, signage on tee box, and recognition as Tournament Sponsor at Registration, and in all announcements); Corporate Sponsors ($500 includes one 4 man team entry with Mulligans, signage on tee box, and recognition as Corporate Sponsor at Registration); and Individual Teams ($75 per player/$300 per Team).

Hole Sponsors ($100 includes signage on tee box and recognition as a Hole Sponsor), Hole-in-One Sponsor ([1 available) Cost of Insurance Includes signage on each Par 3 Contest tee box and recognition as a Hole in One Sponsor) and “One Million Dollar Shoot Out” Contest Sponsor ([1 available] $250 includes signage on Contest Hole and recognition as “One Million Dollar Shoot Out” Contest Sponsor) are also available as are Cart Sponsor [(1 available) $150 for entire field (54 carts) recognition as cart sponsor on each cart); Longest Drive Sponsor ([1 available] $150 includes signage on Longest Drive Hole and Sponsor recognition); and Prize Sponsors ($50 or equivalent merchandise donation and Prize Sponsor recognition).

LITTLE LEAGUE REGISTRATION:

Registration for the Spring 2013 season is going through Feb. 9. If you need to register in person, you can do so from 10 a.m., to 2 p.m., on Saturday’s at AMBUCS Park.

Fee to play this year is $125 for baseball and $75 for softball, but you can get a discount if sign up online and pay in full.

Tryouts dates and times for baseball are as follows: 5/6 Division, 6:30 p.m., Feb. 11; 7/8 Division, 6:30 p.m., Feb. 12; 9/10 Division, 6:30 p.m., Feb. 14; and 11-13 Division 6:30 p.m., Feb. 15. Drafts for baseball will be 6:30 p.m., the day after tryouts, excluding 11/13 Division which will be right after tryouts and 3/4 Division will be at 6:30 p.m., Feb. 11.

Tryout dates and times for softball are as follows: 7/8 Division, 10 a.m., Feb. 16; 9/10 Division, 11:30 a.m., Feb. 16; 11/12 Division, 1 p.m., Feb. 16; and 13-&-up Division, 2:30 p.m., Feb. 16. Drafts for softball will follow tryouts excluding the 4/6 Division which will be at 10 a.m., Feb. 16.
