According to police reports, officers responding to shots fired about 12:14 a.m., Saturday, in the 400 block of New 10th Street located a black male, face down in the middle of the street near the intersection of North 9th and West Tinsley streets.
The officer called for an ambulance while another checked on the subject, later identified as Sierra, 18, when his mother called dispatch to see if he’d been shot. Additional officers were called in for crowd control, to back people away and secure the crime scene, with an unidentified subject reportedly screaming, “help him, they shot my homeboy,”
EMS and Griffin Fire Rescue units arrived to treat Sierra. Spalding County Coroner Sonny Foster said he pronounced Sierra dead at the scene, “where his was found.”
Foster said the body was transported to the morgue and sent to the State Crime Lab. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Foster said, the victim was “shot once in the back with a small caliber handgun.”
Officers later found a party at the initial residence on New 10th Street and underage drinking.
