Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Janie Durham-Worthy will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11:00am at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, 1891 West McIntosh Road, Griffin, GA. She was united in marriage to the only love of her life for many years to Mr. John C. Worthy who preceded her in death. She expressed her love for Christ early in life. She continued to show that same love while fellowshipping at Eagle’s Nest Apostolic Ministries. Pastor Zachery B. Holmes of Grace Paradise Church of Griffin, GA will officiate. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery on Memorial Drive, Griffin, GA.

Mrs. Worthy was born April 20, 1940 in Griffin, Georgia. She made her final transition on Sunday, January 27, 2013. She was surrounded by her children. Left to cherish Mrs. Worthy’s memories and carry on her legacy of Love, Life and Laughter are her children, Ms. Anita Worthy of Griffin, GA, Mrs. Celestine (Freemon) Fuller of Griffin, GA, Mr. Gregory C. (Mercedes) Worthy of Hampton, GA, Ms. Cassatha L. Worthy of Griffin, GA, Mr. Ritchie D. Worthy, Ms. Regina D. Worthy, both of Griffin, GA; sisters, Ms. Fannie Lee Durham Jones and Ms. Fannie Maude Dugger both of Griffin, GA; brothers, Mr. Bose (Charlene) Durham and Mr. Hezekiah Durham both of St. Louis, MO and Mr. Willie Durham of Griffin, GA; 2 sisters-in-law, Jean Reid of Griffin, GA and Nellie Bailey of Jonesboro, GA; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive visitors at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 139 Carriage Trace Drive, Griffin, GA for the Funeral Procession on Saturday, February 2, 2013at 10:00 am. Mr. John R. Smith, 82, of 1314 Ruth Street, Griffin, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 at Spalding Regional Hospital.

Mr. Smith was born in Union Point, on Nov. 6, 1930 to the late Reuben W. Smith and the late Annie Bell Hansford Smith. Mr. Smith had been retired since 1988 and was a veteran of the United States Army having served during Korea, being stationed in Alaska. He was a member of Devotie Baptist Church. Mr. Smith enjoyed photography, collecting H. O. gauge trains and anything containing trains, and bonsai plants.

Mr. Smith was also preceded in death by brother, Neil McEachren.

Survivors include sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Bobby Dunn of Griffin; niece and spouse, Lori and Charlie Horton of Griffin; niece and spouse, Deneen and Ron Grainger of Newnan; many cousins and a very special friend who was like the son he never had, Robert Arnold of Griffin.

Funeral services for Mr. John R. Smith will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Griffin Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Master Joshua Allen Cole, age 4 of Monroe Georgia, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013 from injuries he received in an automobile accident.
