Blake Chatmon scored 19 points and Daniel Hardeman added 11 to lead Conyers-based YAMC (4-8) which defeated Faith Christian for the second time in five days to win its third in the last four games. The losses snapped an eight-game winning streak for Faith (8-3) which had not lost since the season opener.
The Lions trailed 16-2 when Williams hit the court. They quickly made up ground, trailing 18-9 at the end of the first quarter after Williams hit a pair of baskets and teammate Marrkus Gilbert added a 3-point shot. The YAMC Eagles, however, asserted themselves on the inside to lead 34-17 at the half and 48-29 going into the fourth quarter as FCA struggled shooting from the floor throughout.
Williams scored eight of his game-leading 24 points in the fourth quarter as Young Americans rotated in backup players and Faith Christian outscored them 12-4 to account for the game’s final margin. Rounding out Faith Christian’s leading scorers were Gilbert with seven points and Corey Burden with six.
