Mrs. Fay Gossett, 89, of Griffin, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Spalding Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Gossett was born July 7, 1923. She was retired from Regions Bank, formerly Griffin Federal. Granny was a devoted wife and loving mother who never met a stranger. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett Gunnels and Nannie Belle Jones Gunnels; husband, Robert Lamar Gossett Sr.; brothers and sisters, Howell Gunnels, Ray Gunnels, Jeanette Crawley and Juanita Mitchell.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Lamar Jr. (Bob) and Barbara Gossett of Griffin, David Randall Gossett of Athens, Glynn Alan and Jill Gossett of Atlanta; brother, Bubby Gunnels of Griffin; grandchildren, Kelly Gossett, Terrie Daube, Meghann Gossett McKain, Matthew Lundy Gossett, Andrew Stewart Gossett; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Mrs. Fay Gossett will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the funeral home.

Sgt. Maj. Michael Nicholas Petruna

Sgt. Maj. Michael Nicholas Petruna, USMC retired, 72, of Molena, passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Petruna was born March 20, 1940. He was a retired sergeant major from the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of the House of Prayer Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Nicholas Petruna Sr. and Josephine Bunyak Petruna.

Survivors include his wife, Ginny Petruna; daughters, Maria Watts, Theresa Mullinax; sons, Bobby Petruna and Mike Petruna; several grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose Marie Templar Banner and Harry, Kathy Ambsberg and John; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Petruna; brother-in-law, Bruce Goodman; and sister-in-law, Vicki Brown Walls. Nieces, nephews and other family also survive.

Funeral services for Sgt. Maj. Michael Nicholas Petruna, USMC retired, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Pastor Glenn Peterson and Pastor Bruce Brown will officiate. Full military honors will follow. Friends may visit the family on Saturday from noon until the service hour.

Mrs. Mary Francis Haney, 89, of Forest Park, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Westbury Medical Care in McDonough.

Mrs. Haney was born Sept. 14, 1923. She was preceded in death by her parents, Neal Powell Carroll and Rosey Sanders Carroll, and husband, Thomas Woodrow Haney.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Marvin W. and Linda Haney of Hampton, Rosie Haney Dixon of Forest Park, Nancy Haney and Rick Villalpando of Forest Park, David Neal Haney of Griffin, Linda Haney and Randy Williams of Covington, Sandra Haney and Kent Belknap of Pfafftown, N.C., Diana Haney Diller of Alexandra, N.H.; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Orr Aaron of Forest Park; and brothers, Herman P. Carroll of Buchanan and Jim Carroll of Douglasville. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family also survive.

Mr. Donnie E. Turner, 79, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Lake Mary, Florida.

Mr. Turner was born in Griffin, Georgia on May 25, 1933. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his parents, Troy Turner, Ada Coleman Turner, sister, Peggy Leverette and son-in-law, Paul Baertschiger. Mr. Turner was a veteran of the United States Army. He was retired from General Motors, a member of the United Auto Workers Union and a member of Plainview Baptist Church.

Survivors include, his wife of 51 years, Rachel Ballew Turner; daughter, Donna Baertschiger; sister, Dana Littleton; grandson, Paul Baertschiger and his wife, Montana; great granddaughter Cheyanne Baertschiger; nephews, Edward Peters, Randy Peters, Stanley Meredith and wife, Deborah; niece, Lynn Yeoman.

Visitation for Mr. Donnie E. Turner will be Friday, January 4, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Mr. Michael Dean Carter, 56, of Sargent, Ga., passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Carter was born in Marietta, Ga., on September 1, 1956. He had worked for Owens Corning and was a veteran of the United States Marines.

Survivors include, his mother, Carolyn Schofield, father Billy Carter; sisters, Cynthia Cashwell, Jennifer Lashley; brothers, Stephen Carter, Robert Daniel Carter; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
