— I wonder how many people realize that Christmas started out as a pagan holiday?

— I get tired of all these Yankees here in the South. We not only need to get rid of these illegal immigrants but all these Yankees who have moved here and stayed. The South was great before all these outsiders came in.

— County leaders, both county commissioners and school board, want tax increases and with no regard for trying to control spending. School board does not care about the excessive use of energy and the rush at the end of each budget year to rush out and spend any funds remaining so as to not have any left over. County commission only cares about spending and not cost-cutting.

— I get tired of people saying UGA should fire Mark Richt. He is a great football coach.

— It’s a travesty there is a movie out there about Abraham Lincoln, who was a tyrant. We need a movie about a true hero like Jefferson Davis or Alexander Stephens.

— Dear Mr. President, can you please save playing in Election Day basketball games for later and worry about fixing this nation’s $15 trillion and counting deficit for now? Thank you.

— Everyone in this nation, including the president, needs to read Genesis 12:3. We need to respect and stay close allies with Israel. God never breaks promises.

— There’s a higher power and we have to stop trying to put our faith in the government and politicians.

— I am sick of the people that assume that every black, minority or young person is a liberal Democrat. There are many blacks, minorities and young people in this nation who are conservative and who were raised right, knowing the Christian and moral values and work ethic that made our nation great to begin with.

— Dear Santa, can you please give us a new city commission, county commission and school board? We have been good citizens all year and it would make us all very happy.

— Thank you for nurse Lindsey at the Hope Health Clinic. She is the most caring person. She is always smiling and makes you feel better even though you are sick. Thank you.

— I see golf cart street signs, but no golf carts. Why are we wasting money on signs if no one is going to “cart” the streets?

— When a teenage girl has her first baby, she should have spiritual and economic guidance counseling on what she faces in the future. If she can be convinced that her life and her baby’s life would be better if she stopped having babies, help should be available to her to prevent future pregnancies. The one child is too much for her to raise, even with lots of helps. If I win the lottery, I would form a birth advisory foundation to pay her hospital bill for tying her tubes and give her financial support. This problem should be addressed to help avoid abortion.

— Griffin is a great place. Why would anyone want to live anywhere else or visit anywhere else? We have all we need right here in Spalding County. I think it’s a shame we have uppity people in our community who like to go to Macon or Atlanta.

— I agree with the lady, 60-70 years old that wrote about having to pay school taxes. This is terrible to put this on the old people after they have paid school taxes and raised their children. Counties around Spalding don’t ask their seniors to pay school taxes, they have feelings for old people and know hot hard it is for them on monthly checks. Let the people with children pay their own school taxes.

— This year, Energy Assistance Program for senior citizens did not take appointments by phone. They told everyone to show up at the gym at City Park. Over 1,000 senior citizens came in the rainy and cold weather. The people taking applications only took 240 applications. This was the worst organized event I have ever seen in my lifetime.

— Now that Obama has been re-elected, we might as well change the name of our country to United Socialist States of America.

—There should be a law that requires people to go to church and if they don’t go to church, they should be put in jail.

— For the entire campaign, Obama said if re-elected he would raise taxes on the rich, the majority of people including many who supported Romney say we need to raise taxes on the rich. Speaker Boehner said that Obama’s plan to raise taxes on the rich was not a serious proposal. Mr. Speaker, just because you are delusional does not mean that Obama is not serious.
